New Leaf Foundation announces departure of Laura Sygrove as Executive Director
New Leaf Foundation’s Board of Directors has accepted the resignation of Executive Director Laura Sygrove and is announcing her departure, effective October 31, 2023.
Throughout her 16-year tenure as New Leaf’s Executive Director, and as co-founder of the organization, Laura has played an invaluable role in shaping the development, growth, and ongoing success of the organization, which has involved several accomplishments of significance including:
- Leading the development and growth of trauma-informed mindfulness and yoga-based programs and resources in partnership with schools, youth service organizations, and youth justice facilities across the GTA and Southern Ontario
- Forging the organization’s foundational programming partnerships with entities such as Ministry-run youth justice facilities and the Toronto District School Board
- Guiding the development and implementation of New Leaf’s trainings & workshops for program facilitators, educators, families, yoga & mindfulness practitioners, youth and youth service providers
- Stewarding the training of more than 1,100 practitioners and service providers since 2007
- Steering the current strategic plan through the board, staff, and program facilitators
- Ensuring the stabilization of operations and organizational processes throughout the global pandemic

New Leaf Foundation’s Board of Directors will commence its search for the organization’s next Executive Director in the coming weeks.
